What this check reads

Your robots.txt is a short file that tells crawlers which pages they may read. We open it and look up the rules for the crawlers ChatGPT, Google, Claude, Perplexity and Gemini send out, for the page you entered. Each one is either let in or shut out.

Why it matters

An AI assistant needs permission to read your pages before it can use them. If your robots.txt shuts its crawler out, it can't use your pages when people ask it for help. The fix is a few lines in the same file, and we write them for you.

What it doesn't look at

A firewall can also turn crawlers away, and some pages need JavaScript to show their text. Neither shows up in robots.txt. When your site's headers point to a firewall we know, we tell you where its setting for AI crawlers lives.

What is robots.txt?
A plain text file at yourwebsite.com/robots.txt. Crawlers read it first to see which pages they may open.
If AI assistants can read my site, will they name me?
Not on its own. Being let in means they can read your pages. Whether they name you depends on what your pages say and how well they answer what people ask.
What does opting out of training do?
It asks AI companies not to train future models on your pages. ChatGPT and Claude use separate crawlers for answers, so they can still show you.
I changed my robots.txt. How do I check again?
